For quality research in chemistry

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) was conceived to become a centre of reference in Chemistry within the European scientific and technological community. With this in mind, ICIQ sets as its mission to lead, from the vantage point of molecular science, cross strategies for solving major social and economic problems, thereby contributing to the establishment of a knowledge-based economy and improving citizens’ quality of life.

Research at ICIQ

ICIQ focuses its research in three main areas: Catalysis of chemical processes, the Institute’s most extensive line of research, as a key technology for clean and sustainable production; Supramolecular chemistry as an entry to molecular nanotechnology; and Renewable energies, contributing to the development of sustainable energy sources from a chemical standpoint. ICIQ follows a combined theoretical and experimental approach.
