A qualitative step forward in building a new research centre model

The Sant Pau Institute of Biomedical Research (IIB Sant Pau) is a research centre for basic, clinical and epidemiological medicine and health services where the efforts of various entities come together to carry out high-quality research directed at developing new techniques and processes that help to better the quality of life of the population.

At the IIB Sant Pau, founded in 2009, research groups from different health entities that until now were based on the Sant Pau Biomedical Campus and other entities working in the health sector come together. The integration of these institutions is an important qualitative step forward in promoting projects in translational research, which speeds up the application of the discoveries of basic research in clinical practice, that is, in treating patients.

The most tangible benefits of this activity are the application of technology to health and the scientific dissemination of these discoveries.
