The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is a multi-disciplinary research centre in Barcelona, specialising in nanomedicine and bioengineering. Its mission is to develop interdisciplinary research at the highest international level, which, via the creation of knowledge, can help to improve health and the quality of life and generate wealth. Its closeness and links to the university and business worlds are assets that facilitate the pursuit of this objective.

IBEC’s scientific activity is structured into six research programmes: cellular biotechnology; biomechanics and cellular biophysics; nanobiotechnology; biomaterials, implants and tissue engineering; signals and medical instrumentation; and robotics and biomedical imaging.
