CERCA Assessments are a key instrument for ensuring the excellence and international standing of CERCA centres, which are benchmarks within Catalonia’s research system. In accordance with the Science Act, this process—coordinated by the CERCA Institution—enables the evaluation of their scientific and societal impact based on rigorous criteria and with the involvement of international experts, thereby contributing to continuous improvement and enhancing the recognition of the centres.

A renewed framework for research assessment based on international standards

This new cycle builds on the well established assessment model of previous cycles, while introducing relevant adjustments to align it with the most recent international standards in research assessment.

Third CERCA Evaluation Cycle: Key Data and International Participation

The third CERCA Assessment cycle reaffirmed the robustness of the model following the pandemic, with 42 centres evaluated and strong participation from international experts, consolidating it as a key tool for quality and continuous improvement within Catalonia’s research system.
