Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Towards a revolutionary new technology

Nanoscience covers a very broad range of sectors, which in recent years have benefited from the strategic orientation of research and technology policies in Catalonia.

The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) carries out cutting-edge research in nanobiology and nanobiomedicine. More specifically, its work prioritises the physical and chemical aspects of nanoscience, i.e. the synthesis, manufacture, uses and study of the properties and applications of nanometric materials. Subsequent applications of this work meet social demand in areas such as metrology, instrumentation, energy and the environment.

The ICN2 maintains its commitment to the university by taking an active part in the teaching of students and entrepreneurs and giving masters and doctorate courses.
